My heart is full of joy and gratitude as I write this blog. We just concluded the highly anticipated WordCamp Bhopal 2023 and what an absolute triumph it was!
About WordCamp:
WordCamps are the flagship event(s) of WordPress, a software covering around 43% of websites around the globe. Primarily a tech conference, they are known for their diverse community and global outreach through local communities. They bring together enthusiasts, developers, designers, bloggers, business owners, etc to learn, network, and contribute. They hold global significance as hubs of innovation and collaboration within the WordPress community. With the support of industry giants such as GoDaddy, BlueHost, JetPack, WooCommerce, and Madhya Pradesh State IT Centre, among others, WordCamp Bhopal 2023 evolved into an exceptional platform where diverse domains converge.
WordCamp Bhopal 2023:
With the last this city witnessed in 2017, #WCBhopal this year had a lot on its plate to conquer. It’s such a delight to write that WordCamp Bhopal exceeded all our expectations!
Taking place on the 7th & the 8th of October, the Camp witnessed a turnout of over 300 WordPressers and enthusiasts coming from all over the South-Asian region. We had 16+ exceptional resource persons sharing their valuable insights across two engaging tracks, along with the support of 24+ sponsors. The zeal, the sense of community, and the spirit of giving back that I have seen here are unparalleled to any event I’ve been part of lately.
Bhopal, also known as the City of Lakes is brimming with a young population, dedicated and eager to learn yet with a need for direction. This mega event had several objectives, one of which was to bring the culture of tech to the state and narrow down the gap that stood between the knowledge and active usage of this software. The WordPress Community to prepare them for what was yet to come, organized several workshops and study jams, to make it feasible for all to learn and gather experience.
Another objective was to showcase the best this city has had to deliver on the International front. Bhopal is a mesmerizing serene city with lakes, dams, and lush greenery surrounded by two parallel mountain ranges- Satpura and Vindhya. Coming up with the idea in one of our impromptu local meetups at Van Vihar National Park, the initial gathering of WordCamp Bhopal 2023 took place at Van Vihar in the form of OpenVerse Walk! The sightseeing cum nature walk in the green belt, concluded with the breakfast of poha-jalebi along with every (almost) bhopali’s favorite kullad chai.
WCBhopal 2023 was truly a paradigm of Diversity- one of the pillars of the WP community. Though primarily a tech conference, WCBhopal became an amalgamation of everything WordPress Bhopal stands for. With the motto of “Bridging traditions for a sustainable future,” this Camp made a representation of the local art (Madhya Pradesh’s Gond paintings receive GI Tag), while also fulfilling the goal of a better living through our sustainable measures.
All five events received so much love and support from the attendees, let it be joining the OpenVerse Walk by waking up early or enthusiastically coming forward to contribute in the Contributor Day at Zappian, the energy was unmatched throughout. The first super exciting day ended with an exclusive before-event gala dinner and it did set the tone for what’s next to come!
The enthralling gala dinner in the evening marked the end of the day on a high note as we headed towards the D-Day at Radisson!
To Central India’s Biggest WordPress event: October 8th
The next day began with high spirits and enthusiasm! The stage had been set, the food was tasted, kits were arranged, booths were placed, and the thrill was brimming, what would you call it but Central India’s Biggest WordPress event?
The carefully curated lineup of speakers received an amazing response, marking the day filled with knowledge and insights on topics of importance & relevance (Know more about our speakers & their talks)!
The event was a tremendous success and the credit goes to the speakers and their ease & readiness to share insights, the sponsors and their invaluable contribution and support, the attendees for their eagerness to learn and make the most out of this event, and last but not the least, the organizing team for the ideation and its wonderful execution. Without an iota of doubt, I can here say WordCamp Bhopal has marked its name in bringing revolution to this city and beyond.
Being part of the WordCamp Bhopal 2023 organizing team has been full of varied experiences. In one phrase if I had to define my experience, I’d call it inspiring! Inspiring to be surrounded by people full of caliber and the will to give their best to the cause. To connect with people driven by purpose and the spirit of community and contribution. How beautiful that WordCamp Bhopal 2023 felt more like a family reunion, no matter if you’re meeting people for the first time. You have to agree when they say WordCamps are a mood and one of the best when it comes to networking opportunities. It indeed is a WordPress family!
